Everybody wants to know who’s going to win AI. Which model? Which company? Which one is the smartest?
Maybe that’s the wrong question.
The future may be less about choosing one intelligence and more about accessing the right intelligence for the job.
That is the direction Salesforce is taking with AIforce. Announced at Dreamforce 2026, AIforce is a live interface layer that brings Salesforce data, workflows, business logic, permissions, and actions into tools like Claude, Slack, and Salesforce Lightning.
In this blog, we’ll break down what AIforce is, how it works, where it fits in the Salesforce stack, and how it differs from Agentforce.
Salesforce AIforce is a live interface layer that brings Salesforce into the AI tools people already use.
It connects AI interfaces to the data, workflows, business logic, permissions, security, and governance already inside Salesforce.
Instead of opening Salesforce and navigating through records, fields, or dashboards, users can ask questions, update records, and trigger workflows from interfaces such as Claude, Slack, and Salesforce Lightning. As Salesforce puts it, people no longer always have to come to Salesforce. Salesforce can “come to them.”
AIforce also allows users to create live interfaces around a specific task simply by describing what they need, rather than working through a fixed set of layouts and fields.
In simple terms, AIforce changes how people access and interact with Salesforce, without changing the Salesforce data and business logic underneath it.
AI models can know a lot, but they do not automatically know your business. They do not inherently understand your customers, pipeline, processes, permissions, or internal rules.
AIforce was built to close that gap.
AIforce is not a standalone AI system. It adds an interface layer to Salesforce’s existing architecture, with each layer contributing a different type of intelligence.
The architecture can be understood through four connected layers:
Data 360 forms the foundation. It brings together harmonized and federated data, metadata, and memory so AI has access to broader business and customer context.
It is designed to:
The underlying idea is straightforward: “You have to get your data right to get your AI right.”
Rather than letting an AI model work from isolated information, Data 360 gives it a connected source of business context.
Data tells AI what exists. The application and semantic layer helps it understand what that data means inside the business and what can be done with it.
Customer 360 contains the intelligence already built into Salesforce applications, including:
This distinction matters because enterprise context goes beyond raw CRM records. Salesforce’s metadata platform already describes things such as fields, relationships, interfaces, permissions, business logic, security, and analytics.
That metadata acts almost like a map of how the business operates. It gives AI more than data to read. It gives it the structure around that data.
On top of the data and application intelligence sits Agentforce, the digital workforce layer.
Agentforce agents can use the context and capabilities available below them to reason and perform work within specific business functions. Salesforce describes this layer as a digital workforce with an understanding of the business, function, and industry.
The relationship between the layers is important:
This keeps the agents grounded in the enterprise rather than operating only on the general knowledge of an AI model. The architecture is designed around bringing probabilistic AI together with more deterministic business data and rules.
AIforce sits above those layers. Its role is to make the intelligence underneath available through a new generation of interfaces.
This is possible partly because Salesforce applications are built on metadata rather than being tied permanently to one visual interface. Objects, fields, relationships, permissions, business logic, and other application elements exist in the metadata layer and can be recomposed into different experiences.
Historically, that metadata has been rendered into experiences such as browsers, mobile apps, and Lightning. With AIforce, it can also be composed into AI interfaces such as Claude, Slack, and Lightning-based agentic experiences.
This is what makes the interface layer different from the three layers below it. AIforce does not replace the underlying data, applications, or agents. It gives them another way to surface.
AIforce lets users work with Salesforce through natural language instead of relying only on traditional screens, reports, and record-by-record navigation. Here’s what you can do with Salesforce AIforce:
AIforce changes how people work with Salesforce without asking them to rebuild what is already there. The interface becomes more flexible, while the data, permissions, workflows, and business rules underneath stay in place.
You are not tied to one fixed screen or layout.
AIforce can bring forward the information and controls relevant to what you are doing. Instead of moving through tabs, records, and fields just to reach the right context, you can get closer to the information you need from the start.
Not every team uses Salesforce the same way.
AIforce gives teams more control over how Salesforce shows up for different tasks. Simple requests can be handled through natural language, while APIs, MCP, plugins, and skills can support more tailored setups.
That makes it easier to shape the experience around the work, rather than around a standard interface.
AIforce works with the access controls already configured in Salesforce.
Users can only see the data and perform the actions they are allowed to access. Existing permissions, business rules, and security settings continue to apply.
So adding an AI interface does not mean creating a second set of controls to manage.
AIforce supports Zero Data Retention for supported model interactions.
Business data sent to supported model providers for a request is not retained by those providers for model training.
This gives teams a way to use AI with Salesforce data while keeping tighter control over how that data is handled.
AIforce works with the Salesforce environment already in place.
Your data, metadata, workflows, permissions, business logic, objects, fields, and relationships still form the base of the experience.
You are not replacing the CRM. You are changing how people access and work with it.
The interface can adapt, but the business structure underneath stays consistent.
Objects, relationships, workflows, permissions, and rules still define how Salesforce works. AIforce uses that structure to keep the experience connected to the way the business is already set up.
That balance is the point: a more flexible interface, without losing the controls and context behind it.
AIforce is the interface layer, but you experience it through different surfaces. The first three are Claudeforce, Slackforce, and Agentforce Coworker.
These are not separate copies of Salesforce. They are different ways of bringing the same Salesforce context and capabilities into the tools you already use.
Claudeforce brings Salesforce into Claude, so you can work with CRM data and business context directly from the Claude interface.
You can use it to:
The connection is delivered through the Salesforce for Claude plugin, which brings together Salesforce connectivity, MCP capabilities, skills, access controls, and related setup in one experience.
Claudeforce makes Claude another place from which you can work with Salesforce.
Slackforce brings the AIforce experience into Slack. If your team already works in channels, DMs, and conversations, you can access Salesforce context without constantly switching between tools.
Slackforce brings several pieces together:
The result is a more connected experience where Salesforce information, conversations, and actions can live in the same workspace.
Not everyone wants to leave Salesforce, and AIforce does not require them to. Agentforce Coworker brings the live AIforce experience directly into Lightning.
That means users already working inside Salesforce can access an agentic interface without moving into another tool.
Coworker can help users work with Salesforce context, agents, and business capabilities from within the existing Lightning experience.
The larger idea is that Claude, Slack, and Lightning are different surfaces, while the intelligence underneath remains connected. Salesforce metadata and platform capabilities can be recomposed across these interfaces depending on where the user wants to work.
So Claudeforce, Slackforce, and Agentforce Coworker are best understood as different AIforce experiences built for different work environments.
AIforce does not have one single availability status. Its experiences are rolling out on different timelines.
Salesforce in Claude is currently available to select pilot customers. An open beta is planned for September 2026.
The initial release includes 37 prebuilt sales skills. Additional prebuilt skills are planned to begin rolling out later in 2026.
Availability varies across Slackforce capabilities:
Agentforce Coworker is generally available and can be activated for Salesforce customers. Salesforce also lists it as instantly available within the AIforce announcement.
Salesforce has not presented AIforce as a finished set of three interfaces. More AIforce experiences are planned, and additional Salesforce-in-Claude skills are also expected to expand beyond the initial sales-focused release.
Pricing, packaging, and regional availability can vary, so customers should check the availability of the specific AIforce experience they plan to use.
AIforce changes how people can work with Salesforce. Instead of always opening the CRM and digging through records, the interface can meet users closer to where the work is happening.
But the interface is only as useful as what sits behind it: clean data, the right permissions, reliable workflows, and well-built agents.
At MIDCAI, we help businesses build that foundation across Data 360, Agentforce, integrations, governance, and AI implementation.
